Here’s a few images of the laid and treated floor as promised. The rooms aren’t quite finished yet but the floor is most definitely the jewel in the crown!
The classic 220 x 15mm is an absolutely wonderful product. So pleased we went with the wider boards in the end. The two coats of Treatex (which was a breeze to apply) just lifted them to another plane 🙂
As you know, I was in two minds over applying a white pigment coat (Treatex ‘Natural’) before the Matt finish hard wax oil and, if I’m honest, I think both colours would have looked stunning but there’s a lovely warmth to the floor now (and the natural character of the wood is very much evident).
The hard wax oil seems utterly robust (we have children who’ve dropped toys on it a few times already and not a mark has been made!) A quick mop once every week or two, ensures it looks as new as when first oiled.
Thanks also for the tip on using Elastilon. Since it’s been laid, we’ve had no signs of movement or shrinkage and the floor has now settled very well.
We cannot thank you enough for the help and advice (and I sent more than my fair share of questions and queries!). I felt totally safe with placing my trust in you and your company. I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to recommend you and you would be the first place I’d return to if we ever needed another floor in the future (if were to move house as this floor will last a long, long time!).
